Winemaker's Selection Vat 9 Shiraz
Wine
Tyrrell's Winemaker's Selection Vat 9 Shiraz is the flagship Tyrrell's Shiraz. Part of the Winemakers Selection series, it is made in small volumes to showcase the best of the Hunter Valley.
The fruit is grown on the oldest and best blocks of Ashmans, the original Tyrrell's property where the oldest vines date back to 1892. The vineyards feature volcanic, red clay soils ideal for premium Shiraz.
The grapes are handpicked and sorted in the vineyard. The parcels of fruit from each different block, all destemmed but not crushed, are fermented separately in open top concrete vats.
The individual wines are matured in large French oak casks, both new and one year old, for around 10 months. They are then blended and aged further before bottling.
Vibrant purple, Tyrrell's Winemaker's Selection Vat 9 Shiraz is medium bodied, powerful yet structured, with subtle oak and a fine, clean acidity.
Hallmarks of a classic Hunter Valley Shiraz. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
